Five years of Horizons

In October 2009 Cambridgeshire Horizons celebrated its fifth anniversary. In honour of this landmark, we have drawn together some facts and figures about the work we have carried out over the last five years.
To date, Cambridgeshire Horizons and its partners have successfully bid for and received almost £100 million from Government. This money has been used to fund, or part-fund, a wide range of projects, including:
- A428 between Caxton Common and Hardwick has been dualled
- Addenbrooke's Access Road - due for completion in 2010
- Riverside Bridge built across the River Cam in Cambridge to connect Chesterton to Newmarket Road
- A host of Green Infrastructure project including: the opening of East Pit Nature Reserve in Cambridge, the Great Fen Project, Coton Countryside Reserve, and Wicken Fen
- Improvements to Hunts Gym
- Cowley Road/ Milton park and ride relocation (opened November 2008)
- Enhancing electricity supply via the new King's Hedges grid station
- Funding to allow a cycleway to run alongside the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway
- New SmartLife homes in March
- Sapley Square in Oxmoor
- The Saxongate Centre in Huntingdon
- Cowley Road Junction improvements
- St Neots Space for Creativity
- Cambridge Green Necklace
- Exemplar eco-affordable homes in Huntingdon
- Cambourne Churches Community Centre
- Ely Masterplanning
