How We Did It

Partnership work is at the heart of the growth agenda, and partnership working was a core function for the former Horizons team.
Horizons' role was to bring together the relevant agencies, statutory bodies, developers, and other interested parties, to ensure that projects were delivered on time, on budget and to the highest possible standards.
Horizons' had a crucial role to play and one that involved a wide range of responsibilities, from project management of the major developments to securing and managing additional funding streams. Other important roles included developing Quality of Life and sustainable infrastructure strategies, championing low carbon growth, and researching innovative new funding streams.
The team also managed and resolved differences between partners, and coordinated a communications and community engagement strategy for growth in partnership with local authorities to help ensure the community were kept informed and given the opportunity to have their say on the growth of their county. These responsibilities are now being undertaken directly by the relevant local authorities.
In 2010, Cambridgeshire Horizons had a team of 22 full time and part time staff (15 FTE equivalents) who delivered these tasks by working in conjunction with our partners, and other associated organisations. At the end of September 2011 Cambridgeshire Horizons closed.
