John Williamson - Director for Development and Deputy Chief Executive

John joined Cambridgeshire Horizons in April 2010 on secondment for a year from the Government Office for the East of England (GO-East). He brings with him over 20 years planning and development experience, mainly within central government. 

Before moving to GO-East in 2003, John worked in the planning policy directorate of what is now the department for Communities and Local Government, dealing with national policy on affordable housing, economic development, planning obligations and retail development.  At GO-East he led teams handling the regional spatial strategy, local development frameworks and a range of planning, housing and transport issues across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk and Suffolk.

A member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and regular speaker at regional and local conferences on planning and development matters.
