Our Growth Agenda

Our Growth Agenda

By 2021 Cambridgeshire is due to build 73,300 new homes, create 75,000 new jobs and implement over £3.9 billion worth of new infrastructure. Cambridgeshire Horizons is the not-for-profit company responsible for coordinating and implementing these plans to create sustainable new communities.

The Government has prioritised Cambridgeshire as one of the key areas in need of additional investment to support growth. The County is receiving funding to provide quality new homes and the necessary supporting services and facilities, which will assist the continued economic growth of the area to benefit both the existing and new communities.

Within Cambridgeshire a number of major development sites have been identified as areas for these new homes and services. The sites are: Northstowe, Cambridge Southern Fringe, Cambridge North West, Cambridge East, and the Market Towns, including St Neots, Ely, and Huntingdon.

The growth agenda is about more than just building new houses. Cambridgeshire is striving to create environmentally sustainable developments with space for residents to play and relax, enhanced access to the countryside, integrated communities with good schools and healthcare provision, new and improved arts, leisure, and community facilities, and improved transport and utilities infrastructure. All of which needs to be completed to the highest standards to ensure continued economic prosperity and quality of life for both new and existing residents.
