Vision

Vision

The scale of the housing and infrastructure challenges that Cambridgeshire faces affects everyone who lives and works in the region. Growth, at every level, is about people and communities. The creation of more jobs will lead a chain reaction of benefits for local people, the economy and future generations.

  • Benefits to you: Key workers, young people and low income households will have better access to affordable housing, and everyone will be able to enjoy improved transport links, high quality green space, new job opportunities and pleasant, well balanced communities with good community facilities.
  • Benefits to the economy: Businesses can attract employees, expand, and contribute to the community in a variety of ways.
  • Benefits to future generations: Our children can enjoy a healthier, greener and more fulfilling environment, with more facilities and services located within easy reach, and be less dependence on unsuitable modes of transport and energy generation.

The vision for Cambridgeshire is to create sustainable new communities that provide the services and facilities people need, and that residents enjoy living in.

By 2021 73,300 sustainable new homes are due to be built in conjunction with new transport options, enhanced arts, culture and sport provision, community facilities, and green spaces. Coordinating such as grand vision is the job of Cambridgeshire Horizons. Read more about Cambridgeshire Horizons here.
