Transport Commission

The independent Transport Commission for Cambridgeshire has now concluded its programme of public hearings and evidence gathering, and has published its report. Read the full report here or the Executive Summary here. Alex Plant, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Horizons, commented: "I am glad the Commission have taken account of the likely rapid growth of Cambridgeshire when considering the evidence, and have recognised that this will increase pressures on already congested transport routes. The Commission have also rightly made the point that there will be a steep reduction in public sector capital investment in transport after 2010, regardless of which party is in power. It is clear that doing nothing is not an option, but also that the political and budgetary timeframes involved mean that the County Council will need to make their decision soon."
